CAIRO - 21 January 2020: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi indicated Egypt's aspiration to double the volume of British investments in Egypt and enhance economic cooperation between the two sides in light of the reforms launched by the Egyptian Government to improve the investment climate.

Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson 10 Downing Street in London on Tuesday, according to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady.

President Sisi praised the remarkable momentum witnessed in the bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing Egypt's aspiration to enhance political and security coordination with UK on various files of common interest,the statement read.

The statement added that the meeting discussed means to coordinate efforts in the field of combating terrorism and illegal immigration.

The meeting also tackled the latest developments in a number of regional and international issues of common concern, most importantly the Libyan crisis.Both sides agreed to concert efforts to settle all aspects of the situation in Libya.

For his part, the British prime minister welcomed President Sisi’s visit to London, stressing his country's keenness to upgrade bilateral relations with Egypt, especially the economic and trade relations. Britain appreciated Egypt's pivotal role in stabilizing the Middle East and Africa regions, according to Johnson.

Johnson also praised President Sisi's strategic vision in the field of development, which achieved clear and tangible results, especially in the economic and social fields. He referred to the establishment of major national projects, namely the New Administrative Capital, and stressed Britain's support for the ambitious measures undertaken by Egypt in pursuit of comprehensive development .
