The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, is preparing for the launch of the "Transforming Education" summit, which is scheduled to start on September 16, and its activities will be held on September 16, 17 and 19, in New York, at the United Nations.
UNESCO said, through its official website, that the Education Transformation Summit is being held in response to the global crisis in education - the crisis of equality, inclusion, quality and relevance. This crisis, often slow and invisible, is having a devastating impact on the future of children and young people around the world.
UNESCO explained that the summit provides a unique opportunity to raise education to the top of the global political agenda, mobilize action, ambition, solidarity and solutions to restore learning losses associated with the pandemic and sow the seeds for transforming education in a rapidly changing world.
This summit comes after the preliminary summit held by UNESCO on June 10 in the French capital, Paris, which witnessed the holding of specialized meetings on thematic courses of action, and the participation of key stakeholders.
The overall objective of the introductory summit was to adapt the evolving discussions on transforming education, develop the initial content, establish a common vision and proposed actions for the summit, and achieve greater momentum in the framework of the summit that will be held this month, with the aim of achieving a push to launch and act as a major stage on the road towards establishing a movement Global Education, showcasing countries and pioneers in education, providing a platform for children, youth, students, parents and educators to share their vision and amplify their voices, and allow stakeholders to come together and unite their efforts to transform education.
