18 Arab and international bands at the Aswan International Festival for Culture and Arts

The Ministry of Culture headed by Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem launches the activities of the Aswan International Festival for Culture and Arts in its ninth session, which is organized by the General Authority for Culture Palaces headed by director Hisham Atwa, in cooperation with the External Cultural Relations Sector headed by Sabri Saeed, the Artistic House of Folk and Performing Arts headed by Adel Abdo, and the Activation Authority The festival is headed by Amr El-Qadi, and organized by the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs headed by artist Ahmed El-Shafei, head of the festival, from February 15 to 22, in Aswan Governorate and Abu Simbel.


A number of folklore troupes affiliated with the authority will participate in the festival this year, which are "Aswan, Sohag, Minya, Port Said, Arish, Sharqia, Al-Horreya in Alexandria, Matrouh" for folk arts, "Toshka and Shalateen" automatic bands, in addition to the Reda Troupe for Folklore and the National Troupe for Arts. Folk and show performances affiliated to the Technical House of Folk and Performing Arts, and a number of Arab and foreign teams are also participating, namely "Palestine, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mexico, Poland, and Greece".

The festival activities begin with an opening ceremony on February 15 at Fawzy Fawzy Theatre. The performances of the bands continue on the stage of the authority’s sites in the governorate until February 19, then they move to Abu Simbel to present their performances in front of the Abu Simbel temple and the market square in the city on February 20-21. The festival took place at dawn on February 22nd to celebrate the sun’s perpendicularity over the face of the statue of Ramses II in the Temple Square.
