The Ministry of Tourism dispatched a number of inspection committees to pass over 160 tourist facilities "restaurants and cafeterias" in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Ismailia, Port Said, Damietta and Luxor.
This is within the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on the quality of services provided by hotel and tourist establishments.
For his part, Abdel-Fattah Al-Assi, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for the control of hotel facilities, shops and tourist activities, indicated that the work of these committees resulted in the monitoring of 25 tourist facilities in violation of the operating controls issued by the ministry, in addition to their failure to comply with health requirements and preventive and precautionary measures followed against the repercussions of the Corona virus pandemic. He stressed that legal measures have been taken to punish these facilities.
These committees also monitored 4 tourist facilities carrying out their activities and violating the administrative closure decisions issued in their regard, and legal measures have been taken towards them and re-closing them.
In addition, these committees directed some notes to 57 tourist facilities, and sent warnings to 41 other tourist facilities.
The Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for the control of hotel establishments, shops and tourist activities indicated that these committees, during the traffic process, raised the tourist class of one tourist facility and evaluated it at a five-star grade due to its application of the relevant specifications.
These committees also monitored during the traffic process 32 closed tourist facilities, and they will be passed later to follow up and ensure their compliance with the operating controls issued by the ministry.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in cooperation with the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers and the Chamber of Hotel Establishments, launched the training program entitled: "For Safe Tourism" for training workers in the tourism sector in the field of health and food safety "HACCP".
The launch of this training program comes within the framework of the ministerial decision recently issued to organize the training system in hotel and tourism establishments and its commitment to provide workers in all departments with the necessary training courses, each according to his specialization, which reflects the ministry’s keenness to develop the quality of services, raise the efficiency of the human element of workers in the tourism sector and develop their skills. and its capabilities, which contributes to maintaining Egypt’s tourism reputation and raising its competitive position in the ranks of tourism countries in the world.
Dr. Suha Bahgat, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Training Affairs, indicated that this program was prepared by experts specialized in the field of health and food safety, and that it is scheduled to last for 4 months to include an intensive 8-hour training course for two days, stressing the necessity of the commitment of all workers. Those who have a direct or indirect connection with the food and beverage field attend these courses in all establishments that provide food and beverages of all kinds.
She added that this training was implemented as a first stage in the Red Sea Governorate, noting that the training system will go according to a specific plan to include training all workers in the sector in all governorates at the level of the Republic to ensure a level of service worthy of Egypt's tourism reputation.
