Today passes the 87th anniversary of the start of the Egyptian Radio broadcasting for the first time, as the Egyptian state radio broadcast on May 31, 1934 in agreement with the Marconi Company, and it insisted in 1947, and the contract with the Marconi Company was canceled. The number of Egyptian radio stations was four in its infancy, and it has now reached ten.
The inaugural broadcast of the Egyptian Radio began on its first day with the phrase "Here Cairo", which was one of the first words that were launched on the Egyptian Radio by Ahmed Salem at its inauguration in 1934, and it was adopted as an official phrase to start sending all Egyptian radio stations that started in the following years.
And "Ahmed Salem" was the first broadcaster on the Egyptian radio, and he was one of the first Egyptian broadcasters, and he was one of seven who took charge of the nascent radio and laid the foundations for its work. They are: Muhammad Said Lotfy Pasha, Muhammad Fathi, Ali Khalil, Ahmed Kamal Sorour, Medhat Assem, and Afaf Al-Rashidi Despite his studies of aviation engineering in England, he only worked in it for a short period, and his distinctive voice and his knowledge of heading the Arab section of the Egyptian Radio allowed him to preside over the Arab section of the Egyptian Radio. The old recording tools at the time could not preserve the legacy of "Ahmed Salem" and prevented his arrival to contemporary generations. After Tata Harb offered him to set aside the Misr Acting Company, he built Misr Studio on the latest model at the time and presented his first production with the film "Widad" for the East Planet, "Umm Kulthum."
Egypt became familiar with the radio in the mid-twenties of the last century, and the national radio stations continued to transmit until they stopped transmitting on May 29, 1934, leaving their place to the government station that began on May 31, 1934, and this day became the feast of the Egyptian Radio.
