CAIRO - 11 ِAugust 2022: Egypt's exports of food industries grew by about 2.4 percent year-on-year or $51 million during the first half of 2022.
The value of food exports was $2.169 billion in the first half of 2022, compared with $2.118 billion in the same period of 2021.
The monthly report of the Food Export Council (FEC) issued Tuesday said that exports in January 2022 hit about $307 million, registering 15 percent growth in value compared with exports in the same month a year earlier.
Exports in February 2022 hit about $340 million, with a 0.4 percent decrease if compared to exports in the same period last year, which registered about $342 million, added the report.
Exports to the Arab markets amounted to $1 billion in the first half of 2022, representing 50 percent of the total food exports, according to the report.
The European Union came second in the list with a value of $427 million, representing 20 percent of Egypt’s total food exports, noted the report.
The value of food exports to the US increased by 31 percent to hit $144 million, representing 7 percent of Egypt's total food exports, said the report.
