CAIRO, 31 August 2020: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered industrial zones operating at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) to act to centralize the industry and give priority to the production of goods that are being imported by Egypt.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and SCZone Chairman Mohamed Yehia Zaki, the president stressed the need to reduce imports.

He assigned the SCZone to coordinate with bodies concerned to prepare an integrated database of demands of the local market to determine projects needed to be carried out in this regard.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said the meeting tackled activities at the SCZone and ongoing contracts with regard to investment sectors at industrial zones and ports.

Zaki, meanwhile, reviewed the activities of companies operating at the Suez Canal Economic Zone, especially the ports of East Port Said, West Port Said, Ein El Sokhna and Adabiya.

He also spoke of the financial position of the authority and expected cash flows in the current fiscal year, as well as investment projects.
