Egypt calls for Sudanese-owned solution to end conflict

CAIRO – 13 September 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Friday with Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, the new Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during which he extended congratulations to his Sudanese counterpart on assuming his new position.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized the deep fraternal and historical ties that bind Egypt and Sudan, and Egypt’s keenness to continue enhancing bilateral relations in all fields.

He affirmed Egypt’s full support for the unity of brotherly Sudan, its national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also reviewed Egypt's efforts to help resolve the Sudanese crisis and to reach a comprehensive, Sudanese-owned solution that would lead to a ceasefire and the launch of an inclusive political process to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Both sides agreed to maintain communication in the coming period to work on strengthening joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries, in a way that contributes to advancing relations between their peoples to broader horizons.
