CAIRO - 2 September 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, met on Monday with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on the sidelines of the Bled Forum in Slovenia.

The meeting tackled Egypt's tireless efforts, in coordination with relevant parties, to de-escalate tensions in the region and pave the way for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States on the Iranian nuclear issue, particularly following the activation of the UN sanctions mechanism through the Security Council.

Minister Abdelatty reviewed ongoing contacts to create a favorable climate for diplomatic solutions and dialogue, and to contribute to reaching a sustainable settlement that takes into account the interests of all parties to achieve regional security and stability.

Abdelatty also addressed bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the IAEA, noting the expansion Egypt is witnessing in the framework of employing the peaceful uses of nuclear energy to serve national development efforts, particularly through the Dabaa nuclear power plant project.

He further highlighted Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the IAEA and benefit from its technical expertise to ensure the application of the highest international standards in the areas of nuclear safety and security.
