CAIRO – 15 March 2020: Members of the Egyptian community in the United States headed Saturday to the American capital of Washington in order to organize a rally on Sunday outside the White House to thank the American administration and the International Bank for their support for the Egyptian water rights.

The rally will extend the Egyptian appreciation for the American efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan on the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), an agreement supposed to preserve Egypt’s historical rights on the Nile waters and the sustainable development in Ethiopia and Sudan.

The rally aims to express solidarity with the Egyptian stance on the negotiations and to urge the US administration to exert more efforts to save the negotiations and protect Egypt’s water interests.

In February, Addis Ababa withdrew from the final stage of US-brokered negotiations on GERD that included Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
