Initiative of the President of the Republic to treat a million Africans From Hepacivirus C

CAIRO - 25 September 2019: The Ministry of Health and Population announced the arrival of the Egyptian medical team in South Sudan, headed by Dr. Mohamed Gad, head of the ambulance and supervisor of the external health relations sector in the ministry, which includes a liver consultant and digestive system, a clinical pharmacist and a medical analysis consultant, within the framework of the opening of the first Liver viruses unit, at the Egyptian clinic in Juba, under the slogan "Long live Egypt Africa", as part of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Republic, to treat one million Africans from "virus C".

This comes in light of Egypt's presidency of the African Union and its intention to open centers for hepatitis viruses in a number of African countries to support those countries in the survey and treatment of its citizens from the virus C.

Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the Ministry's official spokesman, said that the team was received by the Egyptian Consul General in Juba, Ahmed Al Bakri, and the representative of the Ministry of Health of South Sudan, adding that the delegation headed immediately upon arrival at the Egyptian clinic in Juba, which is supplied with all equipment, medical supplies, and medicines.

He pointed out that the Egyptian medical team met with the Minister of Health of South Sudan, who praised the Egyptian support and strong relations with Egypt, especially in the field of health through the supply and continuous support of medical convoys, which includes all specialties, in addition to providing training opportunities for doctors of South Sudan to train in hospitals of the Ministry of Health, and provide opportunities to join the Egyptian fellowship, adding that the Minister of South Sudan said in a press interview on South Sudan television, that the Egyptian team will conduct a survey similar to what was done in the initiative of 100 million health in Egypt.

Dr. Mohamed Gad, head of the ambulance and supervisor of the external health relations sector, said that the Egyptian medical team and the WHO representative visited Juba Teaching Hospital, laboratories and clinics to find out the needs of its departments in preparation for providing support and assistance to the hospital, pointing out that the Egyptian medical team started the actual work in the laboratories of the Ministry of Health in Juba, where a survey was conducted for a number of South Sudanese citizens to detect Virus C and noncommunicable diseases such as pressure, diabetes and obesity.

Jad said that a joint team of medical cadres was formed in the Egyptian team and doctors of the Ministry of Health in South Sudan. The main laboratory of the central laboratories was provided with a PCR device and training the cadres of South Sudan to conduct PCR tests to confirm the positive cases detected during the survey. In addition to holding lectures and workshops in medical analysis and how to diagnose and treat viral hepatitis C virus in the presence of doctors from the Ministry of Health South Sudan.

In the same context, Mujahid pointed out that another medical team will be sent to the capital "N'Djamena" in Chad in the first week of October, to complete the presidential initiative and provide medical support to the citizens of the state of Chad.
