Egypt's Social Solidarity Ministry establish 2nd phase of 'Equal Opportunities' program

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabaj launched Sunday the second phase of the "Equal Opportunities" programme having as beneficiaries outstanding, disabled, and low-income students.



The "Equal Opportunities" programme was launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi early in 2021. As a result, the ministry distributed computers among visually-impaired junior, senior, and graduate students at 30 universities. In addition, it collaborated with "Ataa" investment fund to make it possible for visually-impaired students to join more schools.



The ministry also cooperated with Al Gameya Al Shareya – an NGO – to fund scholarships for 1,500 students at 300 schools divided on 30 universities. That is in addition to providing them with monthly allowance, health insurance, and financing for their research projects and participation in international academic conferences.



The second phase of "Equal Opportunities" targets the distribution of 1,500 laptops on visually-impaired students, 700 wheelchairs on disabled students, as well as hearing assistive devices. It also includes offering 3,000 scholarships to outstanding students.
