AIRO – 7 September 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt highly values distinguished relations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), especially in light of the key role it played over the past years in rendering the country's development process a success.
The president added the Egyptian government looks forward to boosting cooperation with EBRD in the economic and social fields, notably clean energy.
Sisi's comments came during his meeting on Wednesday with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.
On her part, EBRD president commended the economic reforms introduced by the Egyptian government, saying the bank is keen on fostering cooperation with Egypt, particularly with respect to funding green transformation projects.
The spokesman added the meeting tackled the possibility of increasing EBRD's contribution to financing the underway development projects in Egypt within the framework of the new bilateral cooperation strategy in the area of new and renewable energy.
