Egypt’s Chargé d'Affaires in Tripoli asserts Cairo's support to Libya’s government Thu, Sep. 2, 2021
CAIRO – 1 September 2021: Libya’s Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, met Wednesday with the Chargé affairs of the Egyptian Embassy, Tamer Mustafa, as he renewed Cairo's keenness to provide all aspects of support to the Libyan government.

Both officials also discussed ways to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries.

During two-day conference held in Algeria with the participation of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Chad, Nigeria, Sudan and Niger as well as the Secretary General of the Arab League, the UN special envoy to Libya and the African Union Commissioner for security, peace and political affairs; the foreign ministers of Libya's neighboring countries, stressed the need to maintain Libya’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity.

In the final statement of Libya’s neighbors conference, they reaffirmed, Tuesday their full rejection for all forms of foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs.

They also agreed on sticking to the conclusions of Berlin conferences, condemning the ongoing smuggling of weapons and sending mercenaries to armed organizations in the Arab country.

The ministers praised efforts exerted by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who received them, to reach a political solution for the crisis in Libya and restore peace, security and stability to the Arab country.

Last June, head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel arrived in Tripoli, Libya, on to strengthen cooperation relations and support the political process and stability in Libya.

Upon his arrival Kamel met with Libya's Prime Minister Al-Dabaiba, at the headquarters of the Libyan cabinet in Tripoli, saying that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirms that his country stands by the Libyan people and their government that seeks to achieve stability for their homeland, said Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed that the efforts exerted for national unity in Libya are a key pillar for its stability, renewing Egypt’s support for carrying out the Libyan elections on its scheduled time, as it is the way to establish a modern, civil, democratic state.
