CAIRO – 29 September 2019: The U.S. Embassy organised and sponsored the Cairo Symphony Orchestra’s “Hits of Hollywood” performance at the “Cinema in Concert” event on Wednesday, September 25 at el Gouna Film Festival.
Music is an integral part of cinema, and yesterday this powerful concert conducted by Maestro Ahmed El Saedi, was a testament to that.
It paid homage to the timeless works of music that have accompanied some of the world’s most iconic films such as ‘’Jurassic Park’’, ‘’Lawrence of Arabia’’ and ‘’Back to the Future'’.
It also celebrated famed composer Nino Rota’s works for Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti films.
Egyptian star Bushra said that they dedicate this concert to the soul of the late great Egyptian actor and musician Ezzat Abu Ouf.
The magical concert was attended by a notable group of the embassy officials such as Minister Counselor for Public Affairs Helen LaFave , Cairo's Cultural Attache Rachel Leslie, Deputy Press Attache Michael Harker and Deputy Cultural Attache Michelle Angulo.
A number of prominent artists attended the big concert as well such as Laila Elwi, Bushra, Arwa Gouda, Yousra, Bassem Samra, Eyad Nassar, Ingy el Mokadem, Ahmed Dawoud, Tamer Habib among others.
A core tenet of US embassy in Egypt is creating cross-cultural dialogue and building connections.
So yesterday after the concert the embassy has thrown a swanky soiree to celebrate this incredible week of meeting new people, discovering new movies, and building connections, fueled by film that will hopefully last a lifetime
