After choosing Cairo as the capital of Islamic culture 2022, many celebrations have been carried out in various sectors and bodies of the ministry so far. In the following lines, we will review the most important events and celebrations presented, which extend throughout 2022 with the participation of ISESCO countries.
The National Organization for Civilization Coordination
An exceptional session of My Heritage competition, organized by the National Organization for Urban Coordination for photographers in Egypt and ISESCO countries, has been launched to draw inspiration from the relics of the Islamic architectural heritage.
The "Moments" project was also launched, which is the fourth project in the Memory of the City series, which the agency pays special attention to defining and documenting Egyptian cities, which comes within the "Our Heritage is Our Identity" initiative, and in the framework of the agency's celebration of the World Heritage Day, the "Moments" project, which was prepared by Dr. Mona Zakaria and her accompanying team document the landmarks of the heritage cities, and the first stage of it is to document the course of the Nile waters and the ponds formed by the floods of the Nile River and how Egyptian urbanization was affected by them during historical periods.
Higher Institute of Folklore
The Higher Institute of Folk Arts celebrated, in Cairo, the capital of Islamic culture, by presenting an artistic performance to the students of the institute under the title “The Spirituality of Ramadan”, where it presented the popular festive manifestations of the Holy Month, such as the lantern, magicians, religious chanting and others in a theatrical performance.
General Authority for Cultural Palaces
The General Authority for Culture Palaces, headed by director Hisham Atwa, organized through the General Administration of Cinematic Culture headed by artist Tamer Abdel Moneim, affiliated to the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs headed by artist Ahmed El Shafei, an artistic cultural program entitled "Cairo, the capital of Islamic culture" and its activities are implemented at the Cinema Palace.
The program includes many film screenings with a cultural dimension and sheds light on the effects of Pharaonic and Islamic Egypt and many features of the Egyptian identity with its various cultural and heritage inclusions. Several films were shown during the program at five in the evening. On May 10, the movie “The Lion of the Desert Omar Mukhtar” will be shown, while on May 11 the movie “Theeb” will be shown. On May 12, the movie “The Chronicles of the Years of Embers” will be shown, in addition to the movie “Theeb.” The Deceived” on May 16, and the screenings conclude on May 17 with the movie “Falaqah”.
Cultural Development Fund
The Egyptian Architectural House in Darb al-Labbana in the Citadel, which is affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund Sector of the Ministry of Culture, celebrated the selection of Cairo as the capital of culture in the Islamic world, which coincided with the celebration of the World Heritage Day, hosted by writer and novelist Reem Bassiouni to discuss the novel “The Falls.. Ibn Tulun Trilogy.”
On the stage of Beit Al-Suhaimi theater, the “Al-Haramlek” band, led by Dr. Marwa Abdel Moneim, presented an artistic night full of tarab singing and enchanting music, which included a group of various paragraphs presented by the band’s female singers. Khali al-Bayh and "Sahbajia" by Balsam Abu Zayd.
In the Sayeda Nafisa neighborhood, the Talaat Harb Cultural Center held an artistic evening for the Media Al-Mustafa band, the program of the concert included songs, including: "Praying for you", "Yamen, I have stretched my hand", "For the sake of the Prophet", and other religious songs.
It is worth noting that the program of capitals of Islamic culture aims to consolidate the bonds of relations between peoples that share many vocabulary and elements by establishing a creative dialogue between them and enhancing the fields of intellectual communication among the people of the Islamic nation. world and presenting a true picture of the ancient Islamic civilization.
