The Opening of the 6th International Caricature Forum

CAIRO - 3 July 2019: Under the patronage of Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, Dr. Hiba Youssef, Head of External Cultural Relations will launch along with Dr. Fathi Abdel Wahab, Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector, and Gomaa Farhat, President of the Egyptian Caricature Society, the 6th edition of the International Forum of External Cultural Relations. The forum is organised by The Cultural Development Fund and the Faculty of Fine Arts at Minia University, and the Egyptian Caricature Society, at 7 pm on Sunday, 7 July 2019, at Prince Taz Palace.

Fawzi Morsi, the general coordinator of the forum, said that the selection committee, composed of artist Mohamed Effat, journalist Imad Gomaa, Dr. Mohamed Hamdi, artist Farouq Mousa, artist Samir Abdelghani and Emirati artist Amna El Hammady, chose 420 works of art for 345 artists, from 71 Arab and foreign countries, out of a total of 512 artists from 76 countries, who submitted some 1,800 caricatures to participate in the forum.

A collection of caricatures of the world-renowned writer Naguib Mahfouz, the first Arab Nobel laureate in literature, will also be shown.

The State of Kuwait will be the guest of honor of the Forum at its sixth edition, and the great artist Mohamed Abdel Moneim Rakha was selected to be honored during the forum, and to pay tribute to his soul.

The forum will be headed by artist Juma Farhat and general artist Fawzi Morsi. The exhibition will be co-organized by artists Khaled Al-Marsafi, Omar Siddiq, Mona Ibrahim and Marwa Ibrahim. The forum will last until July 21.
