In a scene that confirms the Egyptian cultural and artistic leadership, Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, gave the signal to resume the activities and performances of the Egyptian Opera House headed by Magdy Saber, which came within the plan to resume activities of all cultural establishments in Egypt.
Abdel Dayem said that Egypt is the first Arab and African country to resume creative and cultural activities. She added that the resumption of shows in opera theaters confirms the desire of the Egyptian society to restore its natural world before the COVID-19 epidemic struck.
She emphasized that the Ministry of Culture excelled in dealing with the COVID-19 crisis by presenting the masterpieces of its creative treasures on its YouTube channel and its official website on the Internet while all activities were halted due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Egyptian Minister of Culture further stated that another major step is achieved in fighting the novel virus by launching a program to resume Opera concerts. She added that the diverse program prepared by the Egyptian Opera House includes a set of performances that suit all age groups.
The prominent scene was the turn out of audience -which reached 400 viewers- while adhering to the precautionary measures represented in wearing face-masks, passing through temperature measuring devices and entering through sterilization gates, in addition to maintaining social distancing.
The resumption of activities in Cairo’s Opera House was broadcast on more than 25 Egyptian, Arab and international television channels, as well as international news agencies, in addition to a special coverage on the second channel of the local Egyptian TV.
The concert was held on the Fountain Stage of Cairo’s Opera House, and started with a performance of a musical troupe led by Maestro Mustafa Helmy.
