Egypt 2nd largest steel producer in MENA region: Fitch Ratings

CAIRO - 5 April 2023: Fitch Ratings has said that Egypt is the second largest steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in 2023.

This came in a report published by the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) on Tuesday.

Egypt is one of the top steel producing countries in Africa and the second largest steel producer in the MENA region after Iran during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the report.

Steel production in Egypt increased by 13.4 percent in 2020 and 25.1 percent in 2021, according to data published by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
