CAIRO - 20 January 2020: Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCzone) Mohamed Yehia Zaki asserted that the delegation will present investment opportunities in a meeting with British Chambers of Commerce stating that new deals pertinent to ports are expected to be closed and announced during the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020.

The Sczone chairman revealed that the focus at present is attracting direct foreign investments, particularly in industrial zones, ports, and logistics centers by pointing out specific potential projects.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had met earlier this month with Zaki to examine the 2020-2025 five-year plan to develop SCzone. An international conference on investment opportunities in SCzone is planned to take place in the first quarter of 2020.

The three-day summit consists of sessions on sustainable funding, infrastructure, trade and investment in light of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), renewable energy, and growth opportunities. The summit will bring deals worth billions of British pounds, which help provide jobs and achieve growth across both UK and Africa, the British government wrote on its website.

The summit is attended by the UK prime minister, African heads of states, chiefs of international organizations, and businesspeople. On the sidelines, an exhibition will be held for British and African companies working in the sectors of robotics, artificial satellites, new and renewable energy, and sustainable construction materials.
